Mecha is often regarded as being in the same class as premium-grade Sencha. The tea has a distinctive richness and satisfies a desire for a stimulating drink. Mecha is the collection of only the tiny buds of the tea leaves that have a concentrated umami taste. It has a strong aroma and flavor.

The buds are separated from the leaves during the manufacturing process of making sencha, so it can be considered a byproduct of premium-grade sencha, but this is actually a fabulous tea and a great value.

Mecha, you betcha!

Mecha buds is the best tea ever, to me. Somewhat bitter, full flavour and good value for the money in that a little goes a long way. I am so glad Chado Teahouse carries it.

if you like strong sencha, you'll like mecha buds

I'm a big tea drinker of fukamushi style sencha, and I like it strong (koi). I was very pleased with these mecha buds, and sorry they are now out of stock!

Double Expresso like

Not for every one but... if you sometimes like the kick of a double expresso... then you will like this tea. If you infuse it for too long (more than 30 to 40 seconds) ... it will have too much bite so be very careful. Don't drink this tea after mid-afternoon. My favorite tea is Fukamushi so I don't mind a bit of bitterness... but be careful with Mecha Buds. To say that this tea will surprise you is an understatement. It will knock you over. Not for the meek but if you like wild adventures then you may find it worth walking on the wild side!
